Joaquin watched with insane satisfaction as the lean-to was engulfed by the ravenous flames. He felt no remorse, lounging on a boulder and watching the fire in an almost trance-like fascination. The fox lounged almost upside-down on the large rock, fingers laced behind his head while the flames danced before his piercing golden eyes.
Then, suddenly, his plan was ruined. The mouse hadn't been fully asleep yet. She had been awoken by the flames too soon, and now she was escaping! Joaquin bolted upright, fury adding to the flames already reflected in his eyes. No! She wasn't getting away! Thinking quickly, he drew his saber and took out a container of oil, pouring it generously over the glittering blade. He then sprinted after the mouse, swiping his sword through the fire on the lean-to.
Madness gleamed in his eyes. He gripped the sword hilt so tightly his knuckles were turning white beneath his black fur. Flames sparked out into the night air in his wake as he ran with his fiery sword. The fox finally caught up with the mouse and, with a savage yell, swung his blade at her.
((Didn't want to do any power playing, so I stopped there. Sorry for no dialogue.))

((OOC: WOAH! This is way overdue! Sorry about that! Also your post was fine! ;D))
Dandelion felt completely calm, however she almost felt as though she was not in control of her body. Everything felt so natural it was as though her body was moving for her. She darted around trees and rocks with lithe agility. The pain from her burns had vanished and instead the sound of growing flames mixed with the soothing night air pushed her forward.
As she passed a tree she failed to notice a raised root and was thrown off balance and stumbled to the floor. Perplexed at first, Dandelion quickly realized what had happened and pushed herself to her feet. As she did so, however, she noticed the burns on her paws from the flames. Black scorch marks covered her paws and they were beginning to swell. Weapon still in paw, Dandelion was ready to continue her flight when she heard a savage yell.
Dandelion turned just in time to raise her weapon. Metal clashed against metal and a bright flash nearly blinded Dandelion. She grunted as her eyes recovered and staggered backwards. However, she knew who was attacking and the gears in her mind began to connect all her doubts together.
It was the fox. It had been the fox all along. He had tricked her.
A wave of emotion pulsed through Dandelion and ignited a spark which its own fire within her. Any rage or sadness she would have felt was consumed by this fire in order to grow and empower her. Dandelion was ready for a fight.
Although she was down, but the fox did not have the upper hand.
"You fool!" she spat. Then without warning, Dandelion swung her weapon at the fox's footpaws.

"You fool!" she spat.
Joaquin sent a barrage of insults at her, all in his native tongue, as their weapons met. He stumbled back a few paces, his saber still ablaze. Both beasts were high on rage. This could only end in bloodshed.
The fox prepared to strike at her again, but he noticed at the last second that she swung low. With all the acrobatic grace of the performer he had once been, he leaped high, performing the splits in midair to avoid the halberd. With the momentum of his jump, he brought his own blade down on her again.
((Sorry for more shortness!))

Joaquin was a clever beast, Dandelion had to admit that. If she wanted to live she had to act fast to dodge the fox's cleaving blow. Using the momentum of her swing to her advantage she rolled herself out of range of the blade.
A close call, but there was no way the fox could defeat her. With renewed vigor Dandelion pushed herself to her footpaws and turned her halberd of the fox. With some distance between the two, Dandelion could begin thinking of the best method to end the fox's life with the greatest amount of pain she could administer.

A javelin thudded in the ground between the two fighting creatures. It was double edged, and sharpened, needle point. "Hold ya'hselfs, mah wee' laddie 'n lassie! Och, or tha' next 'un will be through ya'h chests!" a stern voice called out.
No beast could be seen, none at all. But, of course there was. Five hares, camouflaged in mud, and green dyes, and dark cloak hiding their faces. The leader of the group had a sword, hidden in a soft barkcloth scabbard. But these beasts couldn't see any of that.

Joaquin almost jumped when the javelin embedded itself into the ground. Keeping his saber trained on the mouse, he looked around, seeing nobeast besides himself and the girl. Snarling, the fox adjusted his grip on the blade, muttering more dark curses in his native language.
"Hold ya'hselfs, mah wee' laddie 'n lassie! Och, or tha' next 'un will be through ya'h chests!" a stern voice called out.
"Stay out of dis!" he yelled. "If joo want keep joor own head!" He sent a murderous glare towards the mouse, twirling his blade impatiently. He could tell she had been eager to make the next move, so he simply waited for it.

((Whoa this post is very very late! I'm really sorry about this! xp))
Dandelion had just decided what course of action to take. A quick swing would be all she needed to get the fox right where she wanted him. However, as she rushed in, a javelin landed right between them.
Coming to a quick halt she looked around her to discover the source of the javelin. Her mind was still in a state of battle and the sudden lull in the action was distracting her.
"Hold ya'hselfs, mah wee' laddie 'n lassie! Och, or tha' next 'un will be through ya'h chests!" a stern voice called out.
Dandelion looked all around her to find the source of the voice, but she couldn't pin it down. The fox looked to be just as frustrated as she was.
"Stay out of dis!" he yelled. "If joo want keep joor own head!"
Dandelion agreed with the fox's sentiments. She was ready to tear somebeast's head off and if anybeast got in her way, they would meet the same fate.
"Reveal yourself first, beast!" Dandelion shouted back, "I don't plan on following the orders of a beast too afraid to show himself!"
