Name: Victiore (pronounced veek-TWAWR [French]) Fawn (Nicknames: Vicky, Fawn)
Gender: Female
Age: 19
Species: Satin (Fancy) Mouse
Occupation: Wilderness Caretaker, Wandering Witch
Physical Appearance:
Victiore is short and petite, with dainty limbs and soft features. Her fur is the color of new-fallen snow with a lustrous sheen. Since she is a satin mouse, her fur has a much softer and smoother texture than other mice's fur, with an almost metallic shine to it. She has multiple tattoos on her limbs and torso which are as follows: a large purple hyacinth vine down the length of her left arm, a winding, thorny rose on her left ankle, a large green and black swallowtail butterfly on her right thigh, a spreading oak tree which spans her entire back, three pansies (one black and purple, one orange and yellow, one blue and white) surrounded by leaves on the left side of her neck, an ivy vine around her right bicep, a red dragonfly just below her collarbone, a large bluebonnet on her left thigh, an Indian paintbrush down her right shin, two tiny pink lotus flowers on the back of her right paw, and a large sunflower on the inside of her right wrist. Her wide eyes are the color of spring leaves, and her ears are beautifully rounded with one piercing each. The middle pad on each paw is shaped like a heart (but only the middle pads; the pads on her fingers and toes are round). Her tail is long and slightly furry. Her tiny nose, her tail, and her paw pads are all the same shade of peach-blossom pink. Her whiskers are slightly longer than the average mouse's.
Possessions:
Victiore's prize possession is her vibrant sky-blue scarf made by her mother. Each end is embroidered with a large group of flowers of all colors, shapes, and sizes, and it's finished off with multiple bright green tassels. The scarf is nearly three times as long as Victiore is tall, and she has to wrap it several times around her neck to avoid tripping on it. She usually wears a sleeveless forest green shirt and black breeches which reach about halfway down her thigh. Her woven choker necklace (usually hidden by her scarf) has a single bright red and black wooden ladybug bead. She sometimes wears a thick green jacket with large sleeves during the colder months. Her other accessories include two dangling earrings in the shape and color of new leaves, a single purple fingerless glove, and a silver charm bracelet. The charms are as follows: a tree, a maple leaf, a rose, a bumble bee, and an apple; she only wears this for special occasions, and for the most part it stays in her bag. She also wears a woven anklet with blue and green beads. She carries a brown bag in which she keeps provisions, her sketchpad and journal, charcoal sticks for writing, various small sacks and flasks for collecting herbs, a mortar and pestle, and a simple knife.
Personality:
Victiore is compassionate and kind, but terribly shy, and she will usually hide her pretty face in the thick swathes of her scarf, with only her big green eyes peeking out, when first meeting some beast. Preferring nature to the company of others, she will often go off alone to a grove bustling with insect or other small animal activity. There she will find a nice place to sit and draw the plants and creatures around her; it is these times when she is most relaxed. She is an excellent artist, but reluctant to share her works with others, since she doesn't believe she's any good at drawing. But she does like to sketch other beasts sometimes. Though she is shy, she isn't secretive, and it's rather easy to get to know her. She can be extremely affectionate and almost clingy with those she loves, often hanging onto them when things get stressful for her. But she loves plants more than other beasts, and can carry on a conversation with a houseplant or a tree when she thinks no one is looking. She believes it is her responsibility as a witch to take care of nature, thus her self-given title "Wilderness Caretaker." If she isn't drawing while she is out and about in the woods, she is collecting herbs and other plant life for the potions and ailments she creates. As a witch, she is constantly trying to "create" new spells, but since she believes she can really work magic, she is too afraid her "powers" combined with the spell will be too chaotic for her to handle. So her journal is full of half-finished incantations which she'll pass off as poems if any beast asks about them. Since she has learned everything about everything about caring for plants, under her care plants grow twice as fast as they would normally. And she can nurture most withered plants back to health. She calls this her "forest magic," but it's really just knowledge and skills she has developed over time. Despite her size, Victiore can eat, and eat, and eat. She has quite a sweet tooth, too, since she rarely enjoys pastries out in the wilderness.
Strengths:
Kind, caring, and sweet, Victiore is always willing to aid the injured, be they plant or animal, around her. She has a knack for making strong remedies that heal the body quickly of just about whatever is ailing it. She also has a talent for accurately guessing what ails a beast. She is an incredible artist, and her drawings are almost life-like. She can also dance pretty well, and she is an excellent gardener.
Weaknesses:
Victiore is the shy, shrinking violet. She will retreat, at least a few paces, from those she doesn't know, even if she can tell they're friendly, and she barely speaks above a mumble when first introducing herself. She is not a fighter, and her knife is mostly for self-defense if a situation turns sour. She has actually never used any real magic, even though she calls herself a witch. She is not a good conversationalist.
History:
Victiore was born in the heart of Mossflower woods to her mother Grace, a gypsy in a nomadic band, and her father Draco, a musician in the band. Victiore grew up learning how to dance like a gypsy, and she also learned the ways of a fortune-teller, since her mother was a gifted seer. But Victiore just didn't have the knack for it, so she decided to pursue a different calling. She tried music, but the notes and chords and tunes didn't make sense to her when she actually picked up an instrument to play, so she eventually gave up on that, too. When Victiore was eight, two new beasts joined the roving band. One was a skilled magician named Kale, and his companion, also his mother, was a talented forest witch named Lily. It was then Victiore discovered what she wanted to do in life: magic. She couldn't grasp the tricks and sleight-of-hand that Kale performed, but she was fascinated by the potions and spells Lily concocted with ease. Victiore begged Lily to take her as an apprentice, and the old witch immediately agreed. She then proceeded to teach Victiore everything being a good forest witch entailed. Lily was the one who gave Victiore all her tattoos. As the mouse progressed in her studies, a new tattoo was given after she successfully passed a certain skill level such as remedy-making, incantation-writing, etc. Victiore developed her knack for drawing as she studied, since she had to remember what certain herbs looked like for the various potions and elixirs Lily had her make. During her training, Victiore learned from Lily that witches had a responsibility to take care of the wilderness. With this belief firmly implanted in her mind, Victiore blazed through her studies with gusto, eager to become as skilled as her mentor. All her hard work paid off nine years later when Lily declared the mouse a full forest witch. She tattooed the oak tree upon Victiore's back like a diploma symbolizing Victiore's becoming a mature witch. After celebrating with her family and friends, Victiore decided to roam the wilderness in a lifelong effort to fulfill her duty to nature as a "Wilderness Caretaker" as she now called herself. For good luck, Lily gave the mouse her charm bracelet, the very one Victiore carries with her today. Lily's son Kale and Victiore's father gave her a woven choker with a carved wooden ladybug bead, and a woven anklet with green and blue beads. Her mother Grace presented her with an embroidered scarf, but it was a little long; Grace explained that it was because she wanted to make sure Victiore stayed warm. Grace was rather overprotective. But Victiore loved the scarf anyway, and, saying a fond goodbye to her loved ones, she set out. However, her first experience alone in Mossflower woods was less than pleasant. She had not gone two miles before she was attacked by a rat who stole what money she had. That same night, a huge thunderstorm hit, and Victiore had no shelter save for a small lean-to she'd built against a large boulder. The next few months did not fare much better. Her constant bad experiences caused her to withdraw into herself, becoming outwardly shy and timid. She avoids crossing paths with other beasts as often as possible. But it is in nature she finds her comfort, and she continues to roam Mossflower despite all she's been through. She has passed Redwall in her travels several times, but has never worked up the courage to knock on the gates, much less venture inside. Currently, she is trying to come up with an incantation for a love spell.
Relationships:
Victiore is not in any relationships, and she has not seen her family in over two years.
Other:
Victiore likes pastries made with berries, but strawberry pastries are her most favorite.
She dislikes rats because of her first encounter with a rat vagabond who stole her money.
