Name: Alne Nikta (pronounced ALL-nay, NICK-tah)
Gender: Female
Age: Around seventeen or eighteen
Species: squirrel
Occupation: Kitchen helper (or at least would like to be)
Physical Appearance:
Alne is on the tall side, with long, thick black fur. Her fur color is not a true black, and looking closer one can see it's merely just an extremely dark gray. She's fit and lithe, and an excellent climber, really a typical squirrel at first glance. However, her tail is extremely bushy, and will often get in her way at times. Her eyes are a bright sky blue, which fades to a more glassy blue after she's been in direct sunlight for a long period of time. Both ears have rather prominent tufts, and one piercing each, which hold single pearl studs. She wears a mossy green dress and occasionally an off-white apron. Beneath her dress, on her back, is a jagged scar that slashes across her shoulder blades, down her spine, and to the base of her tail.
Possessions:
An avid cook, Alne carries around her trusted kitchen kit which contains the following: one pot, one pan, three kitchen knives, flint and kindling, two plates, and one mixing bowl. The kitchen knives double as weapons in tight situations.
Personality:
Alne has a long fuse, and it really does take a lot to set her off. Even when she loses her temper, the most she'll do is snap at you, raise her voice, and/or leave the room in huff after sending you a particularly icy glare. She has a slight Highlander accent, which grows much stronger when she's angry. Normally, however, she is sweet, playful, occasionally flirty, and loyal. She will constantly shove one of her new recipes at you for you to try and tell her what you think. She desperately wants to be the head cook at Redwall, but she will be content with the status of a kitchen helper. She likes to climb, and she's a great climber, but prefers to spend time on the ground with her cooking utensils. She can get a tad overprotective of her loved ones.
Strengths:
Alne is an excellent cook, even though she is constantly trying to improve. She's a great climber, like all squirrels. A nurturing sister, she has taken care of her little brother Fenn nearly since the day he was born. (More on this in her history.) Alne does not dwell on the past, but she doesn't hide it from others. She is willing to talk about how she came to Redwall, even if her story is a sad one.
Weaknesses:
Alne will often stumble over her own tail, since it is larger than average. She is not much of a fighter, and the only weapon she's ever wielded is her kitchen knives, but those situations never came to bloodshed, and the knives were merely for self defense. She feels nauseated at the sight of blood, but not enough to get sick.
History:
Having lived up north for most of her life, Alne and her family were content where they were. The family lived in a small village which consisted primarily of squirrels. It was a peaceful community, and many of the families had survived raids and hardship. The village was a place to settle down. Alne's father was a retired warrior himself, and he tried to teach his daughter the finer points of archery at one point, but Alne never really caught on. She preferred to spend time with her mother in the kitchen. However, when Alne was sixteen, things took a turn for the worse. A vicious vermin gang attacked their village, burning most everything to the ground. Few families in the tiny village survived the brutal attack, and Alne's father was cruelly murdered. It was during this raid that Alne received her scar. Alne and her pregnant mother fled south to the safe haven known as Redwall Abbey.
It took many months to reach Mossflower, and along the way, Alne's little brother Fenn was born. Physically worn from the effort of travel and childbirth, Alne's mother died before the little family reached Redwall. Alne arrived at the abbey with her infant brother in her arms, exhausted, ragged, but rejoicing to have made it to Redwall.
Relationships:
Alne's only known relation is her little brother Fenn. And Alne makes friends wherever she goes.
Other:
Alne's brother has long dark gray fur like his sister, and the same sky blue eyes.
