Autumn had come to Redwall Abbey.
It was a chilly morn' as the harsh Northern wind blew across the land. It nipped at creatures' toes and noses. It blew the changing leaves all over the place, and even tried to take a way the ripening fruits and nuts that had fallen to the ground. It also blew in a dark gray storm cover of clouds which would drizzle on the Abbey Dwellers from time to time.
Asmara didn't want to chance it.
The blind sable had been inside all day. She hated being out in the rain. All the raindrops hitting everything created so much noise! She couldn't stand it!
So Asmara Nimblepaw had been up in her room most of the day, weaving a new blanket. It was a special blanket for a shy little dibbun that was near to Asmara's heart. The little one had used it's old blanket to pieces and now there was no fixing it. Asmara couldn't stand having the little one so upset, so she decided to make the dibbun another one.
The new creation was a soft cotton blanket of a baby blue color with golden flowers lining the border. Asmara had worked on it all day, and currently, it was almost done. By dinner, Asmara should have it done.
But now it was lunch time, and Asmara believed 100% in the saying that an army marches on it's stomach. So Asmara left her room to have lunch to keep up her strength, and walked down the stairs slowly, one by one with her paw on the wall to keep her balance.
Asmara didn't mind being blind really. Sure it had it's bad moments...Check that alot of bad moments...but there were some perks! She could hear, smell, and feel better and ordinary creatures, and she was a brilliant sower! However, there were the times she ran into things, slipped on unseen objects, and over all just got in the way.
The sable sighed. She had never known being able to see, so it didn't bother her too much, but if she could see! Oh the wonders that she would be able to see! Color! Sunsets! Her sewing creations! The happy faces of the little ones!
Her mind was still preoccupied when she stepped off the stairs and started walking across the Great Hall to the Kitchen. So busy was her mind, she momentarily forgot the layout of the Great Hall and ran smack-dab into one of the large columns and fell back on her tail.
Muttering to herself, Asmara rubbed her nose as she tried to stand up. Her balance was thrown of so she wobbled back and forth, almost tripping on her dress. "Who puts a column in the middle of a hall?" Asmara muttered.
