"I come with word from the Skipper Of Sea Otters...Corsairs South-east of here just off the shore...you are friendly beast are you not? Do you have a master?....If so do hasten the word to him...We could use your aid...." he said keeping his head low. The smell from his cloak seemed to intensify the smell of rotting flesh from his cloak...not to mention the dried blood.

Sarge's bushy eyebrows were raised to a new height, Corsairs? That was all the Mountain needed at a time like this. They were in the middle of a war with a horde nearly twice the size of their combined forces of the Long Patrol and their allies and now they had to deal with Corsairs! The smell of rotting flesh intensified, what was this? Blood? "Friendly 'as any Long Patroller eh? Wot? I'll tell 'is Lordship but y'see ol' boy, the Mountain is tied up in a jolly ol' war with a horde wot wot!" He adjusted his spectacles, "Y'smell like y'wounded ol'scout! Were there many o' th' blighters?"

"Enough of them to take caution..." he said looking up, his eyes under the hood had a very low hue of red showing in the darkness of it. "Im not wounded....I just never wash what im wearing...." he turned to the side looking out at the sea then back up. "The skipper said he would delay them as best he could before he would attack...he could use your help...might I enter your domain?" he said as the wind blew the smell upward.

"Halloo the mountain!"Alaris was seen dashing through the sands. Really, the river wasn't that far off from Salamandastron. The fox was sweating profusely, but he didn't let that deter him. He needed to get the message quickly to Lord Ashstripe and the rest.
Maken perked his ears. "My. The cheeky blighter was fast. Back already from Redwall? He must have bloomin' wings." The long-furred hair got up from the table he was at in the mess hall and ran through to the open gates. He stopped suddenly. "Sarge? And another flippin' otter? What's going on here?"

Sarge scratched his ears idlely, he had already let in one complete stranger and this one seemed to be affiliated with the other, so he couldn't see any real reason not to, "Go right ahead ol' boy, just one little flippin' condition." He grinned slyly, "Get a bit o' a wash-up eh? You'll wake th' blinkin' dead with that stench!" He chided bluntly.
He waved at Maken in casual greeting, "Ho' there m'boy, jus' another one o' those river-wallopers wot?" He cried out in response to Maken's question.

"I see. Is he in anyway related to the sea-walloper laying in the infirmary?" Maken grinned and stepped aside so the otter could pass by. "I think Alaris has a message for Lord Ashstripe. Do you think I should send him up?
Alaris came up to the gate, and saw an otter, and two hares. He waved cheerily at the group and leaned against the post. "Listen here sirrahs, I have a message for your badger lord. Might I be allowed to pass through to wherever he may be?" He grinned, the scrunched his nose. "Phew. What is that horrifying stench? Put anyone to sleep I grant you, and I doubt they'de be back up."

The otter looked at Sarge. "I'll do one think longears...I'll come in but I shal'nt be washing what im wearing...It takes away from the effect...." said in all truth. "Wake the dead....I like it...." he said with a grin. It takes alot to amuse Celeron and this Sarge did a good job...he was speaking his own language...
About that time the Skipper himself came running up with a small band of otter behind him. "So this is it...."Salamandastron...All this time its been 'ere and we didnt even know it!" he said scratching his head and wiping the sweat from his forehead. "You'd think they would put a sign up er somthin....Ah! Undertaker! Glad to see you've made it! What took you so long?" Celeron rolled his eyes. "I took a detour sir...I had to realign a Searat's back..." he said as if serious, not cracking a smile. "Ah, no harm done them..." he said turning his head towards the Hare. "Ah...a long eared land-flopper...."

Sarge glanced around wildly, sure was a busy day for gate-duty, at this rate he wouldn't be able to get a decent nap in. He should have volunteered for something else, like patrol. Least he got some peace and quiet that way.
Sarge scratched his head and shrugged at Maken, the fact that he knew Alaris' name probably meant the two were familiar and the fact that no hostility had arisen probably meant the beast had good intentions, "Seems jolly enough, send 'im in!" He cried out to the lower levels, the cry was echoed several times and with a loud painful creak the gate's swung open.
Sarge grinned back at Celeron's remark, well at least nobody couldn't say he tried. But he had little time to reply, there was another newcomer whom to which he quickly turned his attention to, "Ha! Another flippin' river-walloper wot!" He retorted as if he was in offense to the term 'long-eared land-flopper', "I suppose y'be Skip'?"

Celeron began walking forward, pushing up his sleeves as he heard the term river-walloper used about them. The skipper and the rest of the otters jumped in front of Celeron in an attempt to stop him but it didnt help much. Celeron reached for the sarge but was hauled back after being tripped up by one of the others. The skipper stood up from hauling the otter backward. "Sorry 'about that mate! Undertaker doesnt like to be called a River-walloper...well..none of us do really...but I suppose its all fer good humor, 'aye?!" he laughed. He looked down to Celeron to see him still struggling and pushing off each otter still reaching for the sarge. "Aye! I be tha' Skip! We 'ad a bit of a problem...ya see...Corsairs....there...traveling up Mossflower as we speak...You 'uh....you dont suppose I could speak witcha' leader then could I, eh'?" he said taking his footpaw and knocking Celeron out with a swift kick to the head.

Alaris laughed. "I suppose we are all here for the same message then aren't we?" He looked at the two hares, expecially his friend Maken. "Okay then, just suppose we'll all go up together. Corsairs aren't that common over here, and more than one witness would definatley be benificial to getting a mobilization of a Long Patrol regiment. Off to Lord Ashstripe then!" The fox strode down the hallway, still chuckling with mirth.

Sarge strafed back slightly and twirled his mustache idlely, "Oh indeed ol'boy.." He grinned and kept his focus on Celeron, he was going to have to keep his wits about him around that otter; they were going to get on rather well.
"Righto! 'is Lordship is probably sulkin' 'round th' Mountain somewhere wot? So why not entertain y'selves in the Mess Hall fer th' time bein' wot wot? I'll try 'nd find 'im eh?" And with that he dashed down the halls quickly, eager to escape Celeron's presence, unconscious or not, "Phew..Th' blighter would've killed me on th' spot!" He shook his head as he ran.

The skipper and the rest of the otter crew followed the bunch in to the mess hall dragging Celeron with them. "Well I sure hope thier leader is willing to do somthin'...that bunch is off in mossflower by now...I dunno mates...perhaps there's somthin we can do for this bunch eh?" suggested the skipper. The other's nodded in agreement.
