Name: Tanon Fuldrik
Gender: Male
Age: 5 human years (21 seasons)
Species: Otter
Occupation: Helper at Redwall.
Appearance: He is a tall otter with light brown fur, hazel eyes and wears a tan colored vest with dark blue trousers which are held up by a cord belt. On both his wrists are two cord bracelets. He is of a light build with several battle scars on his body, an especially large one on his leg which can only be noticed when he removes his trousers.
Possessions: He carries with him a stout oak staff that was made by his father. On each of his wrists, he has a cord bracelet and tied to his cord belt he has a couple of small pouches which he uses to carry food, herbs and occasionally other items necessary for traveling.
Personality: Tanon is a goodhearted otter who tends to be a bit free spirited every now and then. He likes to joke around with others as often as occasion permits, particularly dibbuns, but knows when to draw the line when it comes to such things. He is quite friendly and very helpful, but also a bit headstrong which can cause him to become a little reckless.
Strengths: He is skilled in using a staff in battle, which his father had taught him at a young age and has a good knowledge of the edible herbs and plants in the south lands.
Weaknesses: His headstrong personality can often lead him, and his friends into trouble. He also walks with a limp due to a severe injury to his right leg he had received in a great battle at Redwall a few seasons ago. Because of this wound, he sometimes has a difficult time getting around without his trusty staff or the assistance of another beast.
History: Tanon was born in the lands far south of Redwall, though not quite as far as Southsward, in a cottage by a small river where his parents resided. When he was barely out of dibbunhood his father began training him in the ways of the quarterstaff, in order to prepare him for the day that he would leave his family and out into the world in search for his mate, as was the tradition with the otters who lived around there.
By his seventeenth seasonday, his father had deemed him ready for this great step into adulthood and carved for him an especially sound staff for his travels. And after a tearful farewell to his parents and twelve younger brothers and sisters, the young otter left his family in hope that he may one day return to show to them his chosen mate.
Eventually his journey brought him to Redwall Abbey, a place which his father had told him so much about, having taken refuge there once with his family when vermin bandits were running about, preying on hapless travelers.
He settled down at the abbey, helping out wherever he could whenever the opportunity presented itself. He loved the peaceful atmosphere and the many friends he had first made upon arrival and he was not overly keen on leaving them anytime soon.
Unfortunately disaster soon struck when a large vermin army invaded mossflower nearly a season after Tanon's arrival, intent on taking over the peaceful abbey and claiming it for their own. But Tanon and many other noble hearted beasts would not allow it. He fought courageously on the front lines against the vast enemy numbers, holding them off until their badly needed reinforcements which included the long patrol and the otter warriors from camp Willow arrived, defeated the heartless invaders and preserved the precious abbey.
It was during this great battle that Tanon became grievously wounded and near death in the abbey infirmary. It was there that an ottermaid named Starspray Waymeet who was a close friend to Tanon devoted herself to taking great care of him while in his terrible state, determined to not allow him to die.
As the days passed, Tanon's health slowly yet surely improved, and the friendship between him and Star (As she was usually called.) waxed stronger and stronger. By autumn, a season after the battle, he was able to walk once again with her help and great knowledge of herbal medicines.
Tragedy soon struck again when a band of vermin disguised as entertainers entered Redwall and kidnapped the young ones. Star and Tanon were among the group of beasts who set out to rescue and return them to the safety of the abbey.
It was during these travels that through a series of unexpected events that Tanon and Star confessed their love to one another which has strengthened their resolve in finding the young one so that they can return to the abbey and live together in peace.
