Physical Appearance:
Aspu is a small, tubby shrew who lacks vigorous strength... unless it comes to lifting high platters of food, that is. His fierce, green eyes are always watching the pies on the window ledge, lest some grubby Dibbun grab a hold of it, and his light ginger paws are always busy. If you were to touch his paw pads they would feel coarse and a little burnt, from forgetting to put on oven mitts as a Friar's assistant. His short sandy fur is slightly sticky from the goings-about in the kitchen, and he doesn't dress in finery. A off-white apron over a short, green tunic is his usual ware, and a tall chef's hat that Dibbuns find hilarious, and love to steal (though he doesn't like it when they do...). Older ones find his hat a little ridiculous as well, but they wouldn't dare be so bold as the little ones.

Possessions
Aspu usually always has a wooden spoon in his left paw, with his other one waving furiously at whatever should be in his way. You rarely see him without a large white chef's hat, unless some mischievous Dibbun has it on instead.

Personality:
Aspu is a rushed sort of fellow, who's always excusing himself to find something to do. Used to a busy life in the kitchens, he always makes too much food then necessary, but gets insulted if you don't eat all of it. He has a pride about his work that's well earned; he was one of the best shrew cooks in GUOSIM until he found his home in Redwall Abbey. He has a dry sense of humor, and though he can pretend to be very ferocious, he's all bark and no bite. Just like all shrews, he loves to argue, fuss and insult, and you have to have a lot of backbone to help in his kitchen.

Strengths:

• Sense of Ingredients: Aspu is known for his adventurous combinations, that usually always turn out right!
  
• Punctuality: No matter how much he fusses, his feasts are always ready on time!
  
• Wits: He's very witty, and always has a pun or a dry remark ready.
  

Weaknesses:

• Food: What would you expect? He's a Friar.
  
• Dibbuns: No matter how much he complains and scolds them, he has a soft spot for them in his heart.
  

History:
Once a GUOSIM shrew, always a GUOSIM shrew. At least, that's what he says. Aspu used to live among them, though he never was one of those lean, athletic shrews, he went on a bunch of adventure in his time. His mother was a renowned GUOSIM cook, and though his father wanted Aspu to become a skilled tracker, he grew up with his head wrapped in the aromas of food. Sure, he could wield a paddle, but he'd sooner be on the shore, making something delicious to the more adventurous ones. They visited Redwall Abbey when he was younger, and the whole time he only got out of the kitchens for sleep. Ever since he dreamed of going back there, to all the friends, the food, the drinks, the food, the food, and did he mention the food? Eventually he did and became Assistant Cook, and then Friar when old Juniper retired.
