Name: Raen Loch (Pronounced: Ray-in Lock)
Gender: Male
Age: 15
Species: Otter
Occupation: Traveler/Wanderer
Physical Appearance:
Raen is slightly taller than the average otter. He is lean and muscular, allowing for swift, precise movements. He has dark blue eyes, and brown fur. His young face can be deceiving to enemies, though he is rather young, and acts as such when not in battle. He wears a sleeveless, dark blue--nearly black-- tunic with equally dark pants.
Possessions
Raen carries a white staff, the very end on one side curving at a perfect right angle, with him everywhere he goes. It serves as his only weapon, and as a useful walking stick, the curved tip having multiple purposes. Other than his staff, Raen carries nothing else of value.
Personality:
A cheerful personality, Raen loves to talk and sing. Raen is youthful, and acts as such a majority of the time, that is, until he is threatened.
Strengths:
A skillful fighter, Raen can be quite deadly in combat.
He is also quite resourceful, and uses the environment, if at all possible, to his advantage.
He is thin and swift, and uses this to his advantage when fighting a larger opponent.
Weaknesses:
Raen cannot read or write.
He isn't very large, nor is he as strong as most warrior-otters, and has trouble when fighting a larger, stronger opponent.
When the lives of those he cares for is at stake, he stops thinking, and would do anything to help, including risk his own life.
He is frightened of fire.
History:
Raen was born to two warrior otter parents, and raised to be like them for twelve seasons. Then, a massive storm struck, and one bolt of lightning set their house on fire. He and his father escaped, but his mother didn't make it out, as the roof caved in.
Thirty-six seasons (9 years) later, while Raen and his father were out fishing, another storm hit. The powerful wind separated the two, throwing them into the forest, and Raen was forced to take shelter in a nearby cave. When the storm passed, Raen went to look for his father. He wandered through the forest in search of his father, but found nothing. The search continued for four days. Finally, Raen heard a noise, and thought he saw the image of his father off in the distance. Before he could act, a blunt object struck the back of his head, and he fell to the ground, unconscious.
He awoke to find himself in the presence of vermin. Three rats, and a fox. Obviously, the fox was the leader of the group. They saw that Raen was awake, and the fox approached him. Suddenly, curses were hurled from the branches of the trees above, as well as small stones, sending all but the fox to the ground. A young squirrel then descended from the trees, and, upon landing, struck the fox-leader's skull with a loaded sling, killing the fox instantly. Taking one of the vermin's knives, the squirrel freed a very confused Raen. It was unknown as to why Raen was kidnapped in the first place.
From that point on, the squirrel, known to Raen as Keirdj, and Raen became great friends, and traveled together frequently. They often had contests to see who could reach a certain place first. Eight seasons have passed, and they now intend to reach the place called Redwall before the other does.
Relationships:
Friend(s): Keirdj
Other:
Raen can sense when a storm is approaching, and when one does, he steps outside and waits for it.
He is a wonderful singer, his baritone voice raising and lowering to 'most any pitch, and he is known in several areas for his voice.
