Occupation: If it is not taken, I would like to apply for the position of Badger Matron (or Guardian) of Redwall (and I don't need to be a Moderator). I'm not certain how to apply for this. Otherwise, Marian is just a wandering traveler.

Physical Appearance:

General--
Marian is an average sized female badger, strong and well-built. She keeps her fur well groomed, even though she travels a lot. Two thick black stripes run over her forehead and across her eyes, and several more run down her back and tail. Her forepaws are wide and strong, and her back legs are sturdy. She has one black ear and one white ear. There is a small scar at the corner of one of her eyes. She bears the marks of fights with vermin baddies, but nothing too serious or noticeable.

Marian's fur is the usual white with black stripes of a badger. She has grey-blue eyes that are normally cheerful and quick.

Attire--

Marian is a simple badger, preferring to wear only a red scarf around her neck. Sometimes she'll wear a thick woolen traveling cloak, forest green in color, with red trimming.

Possessions:

As a roaming badger, Marian does not carry very much. A pawring carved from the dark wood of a maple tree is worn around her left wrist, and she carries a thick, sturdy staff with a raven feather tied to the top. It's well polished from years of use, and doubles as a hefty weapon. She carries food, trinkets, and odd items she's picked up in a bag worn slung over one shoulder, across her torso, and resting on her opposite side.

Personality:

Marian is an easygoing creature, preferring peace to fighting. She is quick to make friends with her amiable energy. However, as badgers are, she can be gruff and defensive when threatened (or those she loves are threatened), and is a formidable warrior in battle. But, unlike most badgers, she does not experience the Bloodwrath that badgers carry in battle. Marian is clever, and enjoys a good joke or riddle. She takes responsibility very seriously, and keeps a level head in tense situations.

Strengths:

Her physical strength, keen mind, and traveler's skills (such as navigation, fighting, and stamina).

Weaknesses:

She dislikes water, is not very good with blade weapons, and tends to avoid the regimented halls of Salamandastron. She also loves good food (which can be seen as a weakness).

History/Background:

Marian's past is not very complicated. She was born to Jasper Oakshaft and Mirina of the far eastern woods, in a place called Highvale. It was a valley nestled in a small range of mountains. Marian experienced a pleasant childhood, growing and playing in the Highvale community.

When she became an adult badger, Marian moved out of her parents' den and decided to help out at the nearby Highvale castle, where a squirrel king and queen ruled in fairness. For a while Marian worked with the castle guards, learning how to fight and lead, and finally becoming a castle guard.

But life in the castle was too slow for the high-spirited female, and so in her twenty third summer she waved farewell to her friends and family, and turned her paws to the south. From there she wandered across the land, sometimes staying for a while in various communities, including a winter at Salamandastron.

Many memories and experiences have weighed upon her shoulders, giving her wisdom and teaching her many things. At last, her wandering heart has desired a home where she can rest her traveling staff and fit back into a friendly community. Hearing of the legends of Redwall, Marian has decided to seek out its hallowed gates.
