((Oh goodness me. I'M REALLY SORRY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!))
It was sort of odd, for Brightly. He had lived a peaceful life out in the woods, and the time when his family was murdered was the only time of violence in his life at all, and after that he had lived at Redwall. So the little Friar could only stare in shock at the scene playing out in front of him, unaware of the danger and the fire. He couldn't think, he couldn't breathe, he just sat there, pushed against the wall, trembling. "No..." He whispered softly. "Redwall is a peaceful place. Redwall is a safehaven. Redwall is where I'm safe from them." He shivered slightly, remembering his parents' and his sibling's bodies strewn across the floor, covered in blood. He remembered them when they were smiling, cheerful mice, when they were there for him. "No..." He whispered again, rubbing the little yellow stone. He looked down at it, then was lost in a memory.
"Brightly, come inside!"
"But Ma, I want to stay with big brother!" Little Brightly wanted to stay with his brothers after sunset, but his mother never let him. It was one of the unfair things in his life that he hated.
"Brightly, come inside! I have something for you!" Now it was the brothers that wanted to come in, but only Brightly was allowed through the door. "Brightly...Do you know why I named you that?"
"No." Brightly heard himself say.
"It's because you're so bright and beautiful that you shone brightly in my dreams, and I knew that was what I would call you! You are the most wonderful son ever, Brightly, and I love you. There's something that I want you to have." Mother pulled out the little yellow stone, and handed it to Brightly. "It shines bright as a star...just like you. Now run along to bed." Mother kissed the top of Brightly's head, and the little mouse ran off obediently. His mother just sat there, watching sadly.
Back in the library, Brightly was still staring at the stone. Mother... he thought softly. They killed Mother. A tear fell onto the stone, but the Friar wiped his eyes, then looked up to see Solitude attack Travi. He stood slowly, and began running his paws across the ground for something-he didn't know exactly what. They killed Mother. His paws tightened around a large metal object-the fireplace poker, although he didn't stop to see what it was. The Friar rose to his feet, slipping behind Solitude softly. Mother....they killed you...they took your life... Brightly swallowed nervously, but his eyes were on fire. They killed you! They KILLED YOU!!! All of his timidness gone, Brightly raised the poker high above his head...then brought it crashing down towards Solitude's head with surprising strength (some of the pots get quite heavy in the kitchen, and Brightly was stronger than he looked).
For Mother.
