Farrel walked leisurely around the orchard, admiring the beautiful array of fruit, but not daring to touch it. After he finished healing, he had gone to doing some morning exercises, especially weapons practice. He had fought a few mock fights and enjoyed those also. But, as beautiful as the abbey was, he had an itching urge to head back out into mossflower. He decided to stay another day or so, then pack up and leave. Yes, he would do just that.
he walked over to were the Skipper, Rocky, was and told him.
"Hello skipper, how are you on this fine day. I would like to thank you for providing such wonderful hospitality to me, but I fear I will soon be on my way back into mossflower, tomorrow or the day after. So, before I leave, I just wish to thank you."

Lentle's every movement was pain. He was glasd that he was no longer confined to bed, but at what cost? They had given him a crutch, to assist him in his daily leisures, but it was humiliating. Never, in his whole life, had Lentle ever had an injury so greivious that it required 'correcting'. The ermine was currently trying to take his mind off of the pain by making the 'grand tour' of Redwall Abbey.
Currently, Lentle was in the orchard, walking amidst the groves. He admired the manifest varieties of fruit and vegetables that the abbeybeasts had cultivated. Truly here lived beasts much learned in the art of the soil, for there were varieties here that Lentle had only read about. He was hesitant to taste of their rich splendor yet, having sense enough not to intrude upon the hospitality the abbey had shown him.
Lentle noticed then that there were beasts at the far end of the groves. Limping as quiet as he could, the ermine drew closer. Now he could see that it was the marten, Farrel, and the Skipper conversing with one another. They did not seem to notice him, and Neither could they have, unless he chose to reveal himself. It was time, Lentle decided, to say something.
"Hello," Lentle said to both of them,as he walked out from the groves."I did not expect to meet again so soon, nor be in the same place so quickly. Skipper I thank you again, for accepting my apology as sincere and true. Farrel, I am sorry that you could not spend more time here, in this wonderful abbey. We are both travelers, yet we have not yet spoken of you experiences to each other."

(Here comes a hare, wot?) Faffub had been traveling for months southeward. He had gotten lost at one point, going east. Suddenly he saw it. A red wall. A red wall of Redwall. Swively had told him about it. Going over to one of the wicker doors he started knocking and calling out. "Anybeasty there? ? There's a starvin 'are out 'ere, wot?" Faffub could get a good night's rest, refill his pack with Redwall's famed food, and get a guide to Salamanstron. What great luck. Calling out again the hare made sure his voice could be heard. "Hello there chaps, there's a flippin starvin 'are out 'ere, didn't you 'ear me?". (Faffub is by the gate they're near)

((And here comes a mole.))
The branches of the wide, spreading tree Cavvy Gravspakz sat under swayed, creaking gently as their new leaves the color granny apples swished in the breath of wind that softly brushed through the orchard. A small, white butterfly fluttered in lazy, happy circles nearby, momentarily hovering in front of the mole's kindly face, as if contemplating whether or not to land on her nose. Cavvy smiled at the butterfly, offring out a digging claw as a perch, but her guest had decided to move on, after all. The butterfly floated off, heading for the blooming flowers near the wicker gate.
Cavvy waved and follwed the butterfly's path with her eyes, pausing over the wicker door. Skipper, Farrel, and the ermine Lentle were talking near by the portal, but over the murmur of their voices, a consistent, impatient knocking sound made it to the mole's ears. Standing unhurridely and brushing herself down, Cavvy trotted over to the door, not wanting Skipper or the other's to have to interrupt themselves to open it.
"There's a starvin 'are out 'ere, wot?"
Cavvy grinned and chuckled as she unlatched and opened the door. She looked up at the hare standing in the doorway, beaming at him. "Burr, Oi 'ope you don't moind moi zaying zo, zurr, but Oi perznally believe all youm 'ares allus be starverin', hurr!" She stepped aside to let him in.
((if you want me to leave, feel free to kick me out. ^^" ))

Lentle burst out of the orchard cover so that he could be seen by both otters. The momentary surprise they texhibited was quickly replaced by a quizzical look. Lentle understood, they were curious to know why an injured 'vermin' like him was wandering about on his own. He didnt blame them for thinking so, it was a perfectly natural assumption that he would have thought had he been in their place. Now, Lentle prepared to say something, to thank them again for their hospitality.
"Excuse me, sires,"-However that was as far as he got, before he was interrupted. A loud knock could be heard coming from the direction of the abbey gates. Distantly, the abbey bells could be heard clanging to signal the arrival of a newcomer. "I was going to say something, but it looks as if it shall warrant a wait", Lentle said. "It seems you must attend to the clamour that naturally surrounds a new arrival."
Lentle turned to Skipper, with consternation on his face. "Unfortulantly what I had to say cannot wait, for now or any other day. Prior to coming here, I was a wanderer, going whither my whims desired. I did not lead the most virtuous life, but that is beside the point. I have strayed yes, but because there is a severe lack occupations for us 'vermin' creatures. Some of us try to break through the bonds of that lifestyle, and seek meaning in life beyond that, while unfortulalatly many others do not. In my travels, I have seen one thing that may indeed spell trouble for this abbey, an end to its idyllic days."
" 'Vermin' are massing again, in large numbers. I don't know, but there was the rumor of at least two hordes in the Mossflower Area."

Zed was standing aways far from the rest of everyone, He was playing with his daggers and stabbing at the ground, engrossed in his own unstable mind. He imagined the ground was littered with the bodies of foxes, everywhere. And he killed them. He then started stabbing furiously, to everyone it seemed like nothing, but to him, it was the fox who attacked everyone he knew and loved dearly.
"AAARRGH!" Zed yelped a yell of frustration. He was never going to see Akaleska, Analesk, or Anyone...ever again.

Faffub barelled past the mole into the lawn, awe at at Redwall Abbey. Suddenly hearing the moles comment, he grinned a insulted grin. "Us'ns 'ares always starvin? I'd athink you molechaps are alaways starvin, wot? Ignoring the mole he stared at the Abbey once more. Seeing a group of creatures, an otter, an marten or weasel, and last but not least a white stoat. Leaving the mean, ole mole to herself, her insult had offended him greatly, well kinda, ok not really at all, he was used to it but anyway he was interested in the weasel and stoat here(Marten=weasel, Ermine=stoat). "Howdy chaps, howarya doin', Name's Flip Anew Fur Foot Umbrun Bobbuck Barakul the 49th, or Faffub for short" He said offering his paw to them.

Farrel saw that Skipper was busy, so he walked off. Breathing in the fresh air, he pondered his next move. He knew he was going to leave, probably today. Though the abbey was a beautiful place, he warrior spirit was restless, making him restless. He wanted to go back and continue his crusade of cleaning the vermin from mossflower, and to find his missing squirrel friend, Riskarrel. He decided to simply leave, and just hunt for more of the scum. So, upon reaching that conclusion, he headed into the abbey, and to the infirmary were he had left his blades. He picked up his longswords, slid them into their scabbards, and buckled them to his back, and slid in his dirks to their sheaths as well. He picked up his small bag of materials, and ran back out to the orchards. He picked some fruits, apples and pears and went to the skipper, and said a good bye. He found Lentle, and said another good bye. Then, with some food and his weapons, he dashed off towards the wicker gate, and ran right into a hare. Farrel flipped over on his back, moaning. He pulled himself up, and said.
"Sorry mate, are you okay there?"

Skipper however, seemingly did not pay attention to what Lentle had to say in the least. He just kept off staring somewhere into the middle distance, apparently not interested in the least. Well that was fine and dandy, Lentle thought, let him find out the hard way when the time came. See who wanted forewarning then. So thinking, he turned to move away from Skipper.
Which caused him to run right into a hare. Taking the Hare's outstretched paw, Lentle shook it almost absentmindedly. One more beast in this fray....what good was it. "My Name is Lentle Dirge.." He introduced himself, going through the motions and not really hearing his own address. "It is peculiar to see a hare so far from the mountain, what brings you to the abbey?"
He didn't really get a chance to hear the answer for yet another beast came onto the scene. The Pine Marten had come out of nowhere, and was offering his paw to him. "Goodbye?" Lentle asked confused. "Why art thou going off alone, you should at least have a companion with you. Mossflower woods is not safe anymore, as I have learned. At the very least, pick someone from the abbey to acompany you."

Faffub bumped into the curios two. Wot Luck, wot? "Howdy, matey and matey" He said, first he answered the weasel's question, "Quite fine, sah" Then he answered the white stoat's question "I'm a north 'are, wot? Travelin' to Salamandston or wotnot, too hard to remember, you know? I just happened to see 'ere and thought somebeast might know away to the mountain. I'm lost, did I mention that." The hare babbled on. "How did you get here, stoat, Lentle, strange name if I may say so, and wot about you weasel?"
"Oh, yah do either of you chaps know that cruel old mole right ovah there, said us'n 'ares were alaways starvin, a flippin lie wouldn't yah say, ooh nice swords, longswords, impressive." The hare could stay here forever, but he needed to get to the mountain by summer, or it would make the journey even longer. "So like I said b'fore I need a guide to lead me to the mountain, do yah anybeast who would dat?"

Farrel shook his head.
"Sorry friend, I do not know the way. Ask Lentle over there." Turning to lentle, Farrel replied.
"Yes, mossflower is dangerous, but I'm quite capable of taking care of mehself. however, you could accompany me if yew wish. Would you be interested?" Then, and idea sprang into the martens head.
"Oy, I know what we can do. We all travel together pe'haps. We could go to the mountains if Lentle knows the way, drop off our firend 'ere, and then go where ever. Wot do you say to dat Len'le?"

"Together?" Lentle grunted in surprise. Did not Farrel or the Hare see the condition that the ermine was currently in? How could anyone possible expect him to go traipaising across mountains and valleys with a gimp leg! The very impudence of the idea struck him as farcical and laughable. How far would he get in his condition in a journey of that magnitude?
"Okay", Lentle said after thinking it not very through. "I'll go on this trip with you two. Let it not be said that Lentle Dirge, of the great realm of the Land Of Snow and Ice, refused a journey. Nay I have already completed a sojourn to be here, one which culimated in the damaging of my leg. I know the lay of the land herabouts. But it wilt be difficult, with a handicap like me to support."
"I fear that I will not be able to assist much in the event that we fall into a scrap. We will go, to the far ends of Mossflower and back. In the event that we fall into danger mayhap the Long Patrol can help us. Faffub, you can call upon them in case we have need of help. I hope that will not be necessary though, for We can be strong united."

"Handicap, Shwaw!" Faffub said, "We'll just get you a nice olde wheel chair from tha Abbey, and for mountains, hah, I'll carrie ya and come back for ya chair. Least I could do for the bounder who's showin me tha mountain." The hare meant every word, though he would need a smaller instrument for such a journey. "I'll go get the supplies, a wheelchair and a new instrument, wot?" And with that the hurried off toward the Abbey.

Farrel fidgeted. He wanted to get moving now. He spoek.
"My freinds, I really must be going now. But, I would like you to come if you want." He noticed Faffub run off to fetch a chair with wheels for his ermine fellow. He twirled one of his dirks, spinning it fast enough to make an audible humming sound, like a hummingbird. He sighed.
"Sorry mate, but I hope we can go soon. A'm sorry for moi haste, but I yearn to get back out there, adventuring and exploring, and especially fighting. An danna worry leste the foebeast fall upon on with strength, I'll slice them to bits."

Lentle was about to reply, when he was swept off his feet. Literally. Astonished, He grabbed at his sides, and realized that he was clutching handlebars. The ermine was in a wheelchair, abiet an old one, but still servicable. Craning his neck, Lentle saw that the hare was standing behind him, apparently exhausted. He was panting and clutching the handlebars tighter, so tired was he.
"Wow" Lentle remarked, "When you say you're going to do something, you sure don't beat around the bush any. I thank you friend, for doing me this favor. I promise I will not forget this anytime soon. Now, hoever, I must give Farrel his answer." Saying thus, he turned to Farrel, and gave him his full attention.
"Well Marten," Lentle replied, "It seems that I can now travel with you. Whether that be a wise or prudent thing to do, I do not know. I will be with you, guiding the way, or maybe even helping in a fight. The staff is not my only weapon of profiencency, as you shall find out. I also can wield a sling, but my aim is not the best. Nevertheless, I feel confident in our venture now."

"Time for a journey, wot, wot? Let's see any beast fight a Barukal, hee hee, Oh yah the supplies are in a little pouch in the wheel o' chair, Lentle. "Grabbing the handlebars, the exahusted hare pushed the stoat. "Farrel, come on! We're wasting daylight, trust me, gangs come out night, dumb beasts, but they can overpower a beast."
As they left the Abbey the hare felt more joy than an vole slaying an eagle. The mountain was in reach, well not really of course but it was, kinda.
