Cernam lie on the ground unpacking the contents of his haversack, staring at the ruins of St. Ninian's. The early Evening Sun was approaching the horizon, a dull orange ball caged by the trees. The Rabbit threw a pot behind his back. "Not it..." He took a wooden fork out, examining it, and laid it to the side. "It's in here somewhere, I know....it's not like it dissapeared.." his stomache growled.
He took a break from his searching, leaning back to stare at the torched ruins, moss beginning to creep across the remains of what was once a church. Mossflower was reclaiming its territory. "Heh..."

Lentle winced as he walked though the forest. It had been roughly three days since he had left that gang. They were probably looking for him, trying to hunt him down even now. Hmmph. Who'd have known even a captain who had the stupidity to drive his ship so far upriver would get stranded? It wasn't Lentle's fault really, that he couldnt follow an idiotic leader like that.
Now he was stuck here walking through strange woodlands with a injured leg. It was truly a sad state for a warrior when they had to stop too using their weapon as a cane. Regardless, he had to find a place to heal, and to rest and soon.
There-through the trees, was that a building? An old ruin sat in a clearing, already being retaken by the woodlands. A church? Quickly, the Ermine limped to the side of the church. "Garden, garden, where are you?" he asked himself. "Ah here you are. Herbs, the right kinds too, I'll stop here and administer some treatment and perhaps sleep here." So saying, Lentle Limped to the entrance of the church. It was more of a pitiful affair really, seeing as how he had to lean on the walls of the building for support.
"Ahh, I think that does it" He sank down to his knees at the dooway, still clutching his quartestaff in one hand, and the herbs in the other. "I can hear you out there! If you want me take me!"

The rabbit padded up behind him, trying to remain silent. "It doesn't look like your in a state to be taken anywhere." he said, leaning on the remains of a charred wall. He looked over the wounded ermine, examining his leg and debating whether or not to be wary. "What'd you do to it?" he asked.
His spear lay back on the hill behind him, along with various other belongings. A peice of the ceiling fell, just missing Cernam's paw. He leaped out of the way, staring up at where it had fallen from. "Stop that.." he muttered.

Lentle didn't even bother to look up. "One rabbit, you're alone, and you obviosly left your arms wherever you placed them." He got to his feet, painful though it was, and leaned against the doorway to face the rabbit. "Don't look so shocked, I knew you were a rabbit just from the regional inflections in your voice. I only heard the sound of one beast behind me. When two or more beasts travel togethor, they can't keep quiet for any reason. Lastly, if you had any weapons right now, I would have felt one pricking my back."
Lentle patted his injured leg with his quarterstaff. "I have not done anything to my leg. It was injured, as a matter of fact, in an dishonourable dispute. The ones who did this, My old affiliations...they're looking for me right now."
"When I first heard a rustle behind me, I initially thought it was them. Then I discerned it as only one beast." Lentle paused to dab the herb poultice on his injured leg. He then produced a strip of cloth and tiled it around the leg, trapping the herbs over the injured area. "I need to rest here for the moment, if it's all right with you sir. Is it?" (done)

"Fine by me." Cernam said "Although, it's not my church. Or.. ruins of a church. No idea's who's it is, actually. I stopped to rest here, look for some plants. I was going to be on my way, but bad beast or good, I can't leave someone to their enemies."
Cernam grinned a little. He did have a dagger in the leg of his pants, but hadn't felt the need to reveal that just yet. Besides, the Ermine posed no immediate threat to him.
He kicked the piece of ceiling that had fallen across the floor, watching as it hit the charred foot of a pew with a thud. "How fast can ye walk?" He asked. He examined the Ermine's clothes. He had been through the woods, no doubt about it.

"How fast can I walk?" Lentle laughed just saying it. "Say I started hobbling through the woods right now, it would only take them half a day to find me." Indeed it was pretty grim right now, the captain would probably have sent his most proficient trackers to hunt down a deserter like him.
He looked at the rabbit again. Was he a native beast who knew these parts? No harm in asking. He might know a place to hide. If he could escape from his pursuers, maybe he might find a place where better medical aid might be offered.
"Okay, Rabbit do you know of any places around here that I can hide? Specifically, a place that a pursuer won't or can't look for any reason? I am not able to travel far in this condition though, so hopefully someplace nearby." ------------------ ooc: So Taggle, so you have anything specific planned for the thread?

Cernam nodded. "Yes I do. My name's not Rabbit either, it's Cernam, and I know these woods like the back of my paw." He paused, staring at his paw. "Hmm..that's new." He looked the wounded Ermine over. The beasts at Redwall wouldn't like this.
Cernam cleared his throat. "We have two options. I know of a couple places out in the woods we could hide, and wait it out, or we can go to Redwall Abbey, up yonder." The rabbit pointed up the road. "The beasts at Redwall Abbey won't like you, seeing as your a bad sort, but they won't refuse to help you. They can't, I believe. It's up to you. The food is better in Redwall, but in the Woods there aren't beasts staring at you like you're going to lift something."
( OOC: yes. my original plan was A* head for the woods, and get us hopelessly lost, or B* go to Redwall. Whichever ye' like. I've planned for either.)

"There's always some beast watching. It doesn't matter whether it is in a forest ,or an abbey." Lentle mutterd this to himself in a rather low tone. From his past experiences, either way was equally hazardous, but a choice had to be made.
His leg was injured badly, it was no time to be tramping around in the forest. Who knows what beasts might be lurking there? Besides, Lentle knew how well defended Redwall Abbey was. At the very least, he would be safe from his pursuers behind those redstone walls, and be recieving the finest medical care in teh land.
Lentle replied,"Okay, Cernam we'll go to Redwall. We must hurry though, my pursuers, are like to follow our tracks. Their force is not large though, if we reach the abbey before they do, they will likely stop their hunt. Redwall still has a reputation of being impossible to take. I hear they treat 'vermin' better those days though".

Cernam nodded. "Let me grab my things." He walked back over to his stuff strewn about the hillside, and picked it up, stuffing it into his rucksack. Once he was done he stood up and looked around, making sure he hadn't forgotten anything.
"That should get it.." He strode back over to the Ermine. "Would ye be able to walk faster with somebeast to lean on, or nay?" he asked. He shifted his rucksack to sit on his back in a more comfortable position.

"Nay, I would walk faster if I were unsupported" Lentle replied. "Thank you for giving that option however. There are not so many beasts as would support 'vermin', no matter how injured." Lentle thus, propped himself up off the wall, and made a few steps foward.
He could probably get to Redwall Abbey before they found him. If he exerted his full weight, he would be able to get there before sundown at least. If he had accepted the Rabbit's offer, it might have slowed them down considerably.
"I'm ready to go now if you are." Lentle remarked, "We have to try to reach Redwall before sundown, by my best estimate. If they let me in, I shall do whatsoever I can to make sure that their trust is not betrayed." (done) --------
Lentle is now ready...Do you want to make the next post with them already at redwall gates? Of course to get in...Lentle is going to have to promise to render his services during his stay there. (I think so at least) Oh, and of course to proves his non maleviolence.

"I always found myself somewhere between good and bad. It's rather odd really. Sometimes I feel compelled to do the right thing.. other times I look out only for myself, Fates pity those holding the short end of the rope, if ye know what I mean."
He matched his pace to that of the Ermine's, hoping to make Redwall before night fall. ------ I'll fast forward to the Gates now. Question.. are we going to use NPC's for gatekeeper, etc, etc, or we gonna get some other peoples in here?
------
Cernam stood back a short distance from the gates so somebeast up on the Wall could see him. "Ahoy! Anyone up there?" he called out. He put a paw over his eyes, the Sun just glinting through the trees. "We have an injured beast out here!"

Lentle leaned up on his quarterstaff to look upward. Redwall Abbey was truly a majestic place, grander than any of the legends surrounding it. Indeed it was amongst the most prominent places in the entire world.
Would they accept him? It really was a matter of making it clear that he was not a threat. If they could see that, their hospitality instincts might take over. Lentle certainly did not have any plans against the abbey, nor was he in a position to make any.
He called out to whosever might be listening. Who could tell whether they had heard the rabbit? "My Name is Lentle Dirge, and I hail from the frigid lands of Ice and Snow beyond the great seas. I know that previously you have had negative encounters with those beasts. Nevertheless...I have come in peace, and only require medical assistence." (done) ---------------- OOC:I say next post should probably be at the wall tops board...I dont like the idea of using npcs for the gatekeeper.
