It is a nice Fall day, the sun peeked it self fro ma cloud shining over St. Ninian's Church.Shadowsleek lay resting on the cold stone floor of the church. The weasel had made herself comfortable there, using it as often shelter. Her sword was beside her, in case of some intruder. Shadowsleek stirred in her sleep but made no noise other wise.

Midnightmoon was napping with his head tucked underneath his black wing. The crow was perched on a railing in the church, not so far away from Shadowsleek.

Shadowsleek woke up and yawned, terribly bored and hungry, wishing somebeast would come in for her to attack, but sadly none came in. She looked lazily up to Midnightmoon and sighed, life was boring and pointless. Shadowsleek stood up and dusted her sleek black fur off. "im going to go for a walk" she muttered and walked outside i nthe fresh air and beauty around her of the woods.

Tataroo Raketail was brooding, his black eyes fixated with burning intensity on a stone not far from him. He was crouched on a rounded, smooth boulder, dappled with soft stubbled moss, his elbow resting on his knee and his legs folded over each other. His chin rested on his fist, and he wasn't moving. In fact, if it weren't for the scathing ferocity of which he glared unwaveringly at the stone, one might not realize he was alive--or real--at all.
His head rose off his fist suddenly, and he tipped it microscopically to one side. His crimson cloak shifted in the small breeze, and he watched the weasle who had been sleeping not far away walk near him.
After another second in which the black eyes narrowed microscopically, Tataroo slid off the rock. The stoat made a small coughing noise to alert the weasle to his presence, and said softly, "Good day, madam."

Shadowsleek nearly jumped from her fur, she hadn't seen the stat. She examined him to see any signs of wanting to slash of her head, seeing none she took a deep breath. After a few seconds for her heart to calm down she tilted her head a little "same to you, sir, i suppose you come, peacefully?" she asked, paw resting on sword hilt. She took no chances, vermin as herself or not.

Tataroo's face was blank but for the slightest twitch of his ears. This was the fifth day he'd ordered his crew to leave him alone, and the reasoning he had recently come to was he needed another plotter to assist him. Weasles were good plotters, weren't they? This one looked at least competent. And ready for anything, by the way her paw rested on her sword hilt.
"Peace..." Tataroo mused, tipping his hea in the other direction with another ear twitch. "I believe I've read somewhere, some play, a charcter shouts, "Peace! I hate the word, as I hate Hel, all Sixclaws, and thee." I can't seem to remember the author. But yes, I come in...peace."

Shadowsleek gave a small chuckle, but still stubbornly had her paw on her sword hilt " i see, not many vermin can read, that means your a smart one, aye? im guessing your a leader, or at least an ex-leader." she stated, frown eyes wide "i am Shadowsleek, name by nature and birth, and you are?" she asked. She couldn't help but be impressed by his fierce look and blank face.

Tataroo's eyes flicked once to her sword, raising his eyebrows just a second. "Oh yes, I can read. Most of my crew, however, cannot. And if I am to take that Abbey by storm, having a half-witted crew will not do me much good. I am Tataroo Raketail." The stoat with red claws. He ommitted the rest of his self-given title, as he had not yet shown his claws. The weasle was smart, staying impersonal, and still ehr paw held the sword hilt. Did he really need a... partner? Well, if so, she seemed good enough.
It's not like mossflower was teeming with battle-wise vermin, anyway.

Shadowsleek then smiled to herself, yes Redwall was annoying, and she'd be happy to see it fall, now she met a smart leader who's very goal is to do so! Yet he could be lying. She choose words carefully. "most rats and such are half-witted, few smart ones left. A crew you say? why are they not with you?" she couldn't help but ask, her eyes scanned the shrubbery around to make sure she didn't have a few arrows pointed at her.

The stoat shrugged his shoulders and let them fall noncommittally. "I told them to leave me alone. It's very hard to think with people constantly making noise, getting into fights, asking such idiotic questions...Don't you agree?"
She wasn't missing a beat. He'd mentioned a crew and she was wary. Tataroo was beginning to wonder why weasels were given so little credit.

Shadowsleek couldn't help but chuckle again "i couldn't agree more, these day horderats fight every three seconds and don't now there left form right, it makes me wonder how on earth they survive until you pick them up, hope you left a decant captain in charge" She wondered why his weapons where hard to see, if he even had any, nobeast would travel with out least a dagger, even she had an extra throwing knife under her traveling cloak. Few beasts would only use there nails and teeth, she did so when she was unarmed, but she had nothing speacil for claws...that would be her next question if anything.

"A decent captain...?" Tataroo nearly winced, thinking of the rowdy, brawling, muscle-brained stoat he'd left to keep the crew under control while he himself was thinking. "I doubt I have one of those."
A small breeze sprung up again, brushing his cloak back and revealing the hilt of his scimitar. He leaned back against the boulder, glaring now at the sky. With one red claw, he traced a stream of moss on the boulder. "Have you any traveling companions? Surely you don't travle alone."

Shadowsleek cleared her mind at the site of the scimitar, that removed one question. She now had to answer the questions "i meet a few here and there, but traveling alone is much easier for me. less food to share, more plunder for you self, and a lot more easiness of the mind and besides, every creature i run into are Redwallers, to much guts for there stomachs to hold." The weasel sighed thinking of the Redwaller last she meet, not as weak and crazy minded as she thought the otter would be.

Tataroo nodded his head once, agreeing quietly. "I am new to land, as it's been years since I traveled it, so my crew have been rouwdy and I often send them off so I can enjoy spoils myself...Ah, you've met a Redwaller, I'll guess?"
He was faintly interested, since he had not himself met anybeast from the Abbey, but the saying was to keep your enemies close, so...

Shadowsleek gave a faint smiled and a nod " met one? more like got attacked by one" she rubbed her neck where a long slash scar was "if you want to take over that place, i know everything about them, what creatures they are, how they defend them selves, there pride, you name it i know it. I've been here very long living in that church over there, spying on them once or twice to make life more bearable" she winced and closed her eyes as she touched the middle of the scar, she put her paw down but still kept the other on the hilt of her sword.

"Attacked by a Redwaller...An otter or a mouse?" Tataroo picked the two species immiedately, as he had hardly heard of any hedgehog or mole to attack a fully grown, armed weasle. A badger might've, but there was no badger at Redwall at this tiem (he'd heard there had been in times past). Then, almost as an afterthough, the stoat asked,
"How long, exactly, have you been out here Madam Shadowsleek?" She knew all about Redwall. Perhaps there wasn't such a bad chance of finding competent vermin in Mossflower afterall.

Shadowsleek didn't hesitate to answer "River otter, nasty slingshots they got" She flicked her black tail to get some settling dust off of it. "I was born in mossflower borders. So of course i wandered here and settled, so i say i first laid eyes on the Abbey when i was 18, watched it from there"

Tataroo nodded and murmured to himself, "Mmmm...Yes, certain hotheaded beasts in this area can be very nasty."
His eyebrows arched up in a kindo f surprise as he said, "Oh, you were? That might explain something. I can see you certaintly know how to gather information."

Shadowsleek gave a small shrug, "Now, mind me asking where you come from?" she couldn't help but ask this, for she did not know of the many surrounding areas, she only knew of Southwards. She got interested in little things as that.

"The North."
Just for the moment, a harsh, clipped Northern accent showed in Tataroo's speech, but just as soon was gone again. "The shore, specifically, from a tribe of stoats living amongst and agaisnt the cliffs. I am sad to say that tribe is no more." Absolutely sorrowful.
