(Nothing much happening outside the three-way fight now, but, well, I just feel like saying something. And confirming 'Retchen's redshirticidal streak...)
"That's all th'stoats back, boss. But what about Matey/col, inna 3-way..." He struggled for a word beyond 'fight', or 'scrap,' because it seemed more than that. "duel!" he finished, utterly oblivious to the fact that a 3-way 'fight between TWO people' is impossible. "Oh, an', uh...I 'ad ter shoot Troak. An' Flaxo. An' Brogg. An' Fingen. An'...a couple others. But," he shrugged, "thassa good thing 'bout vermin grunts...yer can always get more."

((Sorreh for the wait, peoples, my fault. ^^"))
Matey ducked back against Farrel's attack and swerved sideways to avoid Valdis's. Balancing on one hindpaw, he twirled and rocked back on his tail. His eyes stared upward, and a contented-sounding "Ahhh..." came out of his mouth. Holding his belt-club in one paw agian, he held the otehr out horizontally and suddenly resumed his mad spinnning. In a sing-song, looney voice Matey asked Valdis and Farrel, "Wheeeeehaaheee, I wonder who I'll hit first?!"
Tataroo glanced at 'Retchen and decided agianst correcting him. As the archer listed off names of semi-important crew members, the red-clawed stoat arched one eyebrow. "...Yes, finding more will not be a problem. Keeping them, however, may prove irritating." He paused, eyeing his first mate's tornado-like twirling. "...Would you be so good as to extricate Matecol from his dancing session and bring him back to the crew? I assure you I would myself, but something has caught my attention..." The black eyes bore into the back of Zarek's head...

Nodding briskly, the ferret rushed into the fight, going completely against all his instinct. Narrowly dodging a wild swing, he yelled into the fight "Hey! Matecol! Or Matey, or whatever! Boss says ter come back ter camp...leave these two to it!"

Valdis backed up as the belt spun forward. He was a little slow and felt the club rap his paw. Valdis was surprised when Retchen ran into the fight, but didn't show it. "To bad you have to leave stoat," Valdis said smugly, "we were just starting to have fun!"
Zarek turned around toward Tataroo, hearing the stoat pirate's comment. "What has caught your little eye now?" asked Zarek seeming to know the truth already. Trysta walked up toward were Valdis was standing, ready to give support if needed.

"Oh, yes, I was just beginning to enjoy myself," Matey whined, pouting in a comicla way. "'M sure Cap'n won't mind, since 'e's about ta' be occupied himself...Oh, fine, then, let's gooo~...!" Grinning lopsidedly, he was just about to turn away when the dirk plunged into his forearm, and he howled, yanking it out and hurling it wildly to the ground. Eyeing the gushing blood from his arm, Matey suddenly vanished and Matecol snarled. "...I'll have to repay for that, fellow."
The captain tipped his head to the side and smiled in a hollow way. "What's caught my eye, Sir Zarek, is that most of our and Sir Rein's troops have vanished. And that if one of us were to die, the only witnesses would be our right hands and our pine marten friend. And surely the victor would be capable of silencing witnesses." He shrugged, spreading his paws wide as if it was a surprising thought. "But, that's not likely to happen, is it?"

Farrel looked at the captain.
"Are you suggesting we fight vermin? If we are to duel each other, it would end most un-pleasantly for you." Farrel picked up his other sword and went to a fighting stance.

"To call it a fight would be far too generous, Sir," Tataroo's voice dripped with barely contained malice. His paw was on the hilt of his scimitar, and it was already partially drawn out of it's sheath. "A fight would mean there was doubt of the winner, wouldn't it?" He tipped his head to the side and smile his slow, cruel smile. "And right now, none of us have any doubt who would win. A paradox, isn't it?"
"Don't bother yourself, Captain," hissed Matecol, clipped voice burning ith rage as he glared at Farrel. "I would prefer to settle with this one myself."

Farrel laughed.
"Then come on vermin, settle it! I'll enjoy this moment. As for you, you arrogant filth, you are right. the only possible winner is me."

O-kay. This was not good.
Not only was Matey, now Matecol, disobeying a direct order, but Tataroo was too occupied in his own fight to care. And although all of the (living) stoats were back at the camp, both of the leaders who were actually stoats (and for that matter, actually leaders) were facing deadly combatants.
Seeing that there was no way of convincing Matecol to back out, and there was no way he was even going to try with Tataroo, he backed out to a respectable distance.

An evil smile spread across Zarek's face. "So stoat," he said, "you want to fight?" Zarek crouched in a fighting stance, scimitar poised. His two captains moved back, not wanting to get in the way of a fight.
Valdis turned to Trysta and said, "Zarek is the bigger of the two but the stoat does not look like a slouch!"
"Don't worry," said Trysta, "he doesn't look very strong!"

Tataroo swept his cape back with a flourish and held his scimitar out levelly towards Zarek. C.ocking his head, he smiled humourlessly, and this time the cold grin stay in place. Clipped as ice, the captain replied, "If you insist, good Sir Redclaw. Would you prefer to make the first move, or shall I start?"
"Settle it," hissed Matecol, belt-club humming as he twirled it in front of him, "I shall!" Snapping the weapon over itself into a club once more, he lunged at Farrel, teeth bared.

Farrel was panting from the last fight. He realized that his cockiness had got into a fight he might not win. his wounds were slowing his reflexes, and another professional fighter might do a number on him. But his attacker made a simple, stupid move. He lunged at him. Farrel pointed both swords out, so that his assailant would fly right into them.
He thought, Maybe this one wont be so tough.
"Good bye vermin."

"You're brave for a little stoat," growled Zarek, "but bravery won't help you now!" With a wild roar Zarek jumped forward, swinging his scimitar down in a wide arc. He was clearly trying to use his larger size against Tataroo.
Looking to the side, Valdis saw the fight continue between "Matey" and Farrel. Matecol was lunging straight toward the gleaming swords of Farrel. "Jump to the side!" shouted Valdis to Matecol. He wasn't sure why he was helping his enemy but, another bad guy was better than a good guy.

((Chill, Rockster. It was a pretty short action, but yes, one-liners are verboten. ^^"))
"Brave? Oh, no, quite the opposite." Tataroo's scimitar shot out, parrying as he swung himself nimbly to the side and swung towards Zarek's legs. "Merely smart."
"Don't give me advice!" snarled Matecol at Valdis, but it was doubtful if the words would be understood through his bared teeth. The stoat ducked low, lashing out as his opponents knees and jumping upwards into Farrel's personal space as he did so. The edge of a sword caught his arm, and a spurt of blood painted the earth. Matecol roared and swung again.
