Name: Danju Tobias Wildlough
Gender: Male
Age: 13 Seasons
Species: River Otter from Green Isle
Occupation: Danju is the only son of the Legendary High Rhulian and a self-proclaimed Prince of Thieves, or so he likes to call himself. He can be a fighter, but he prefers the former titles.
Physical Appearance/Possessions (they kind of came together): Danju is a short otter. He stands about 5’5” tall with a rudder length of about 4.5ft. He is bulky with muscle and little body fat, but doesn’t weigh a whole lot. His paws, however, are not short. They are quite large for his size. His fur is a dark mahogany with a creamy underbelly fur. The fur on his head is longer and flops down lazily across Danju’s sparkly baby blue eyes that twinkle with mischief when he is enjoying himself.
He wears a musty-green, homespun jerkin with a black belt and silver buckle around his waist along with a homemade, oak-brown, travelers’ cloak. He also always wears a white, handmade scarf around his neck to hide the scars on his neck. There are three of them, starting from about his shoulder stretching each about 3 inches in length. He got them form a merciless wildcat (why-in history), but keeps them hidden under the scarf.
His favorite weapon of choice is his dirk and he keeps it tucked snuggly in his belt, read for use if need-be. He also carries a belt pack of his smaller tools, such as a small knife, pins, keys to who knows what and whatever he’s recently “barrowed”. He also carries a bigger pack on his back that stores anything he has that doesn’t fit in the belt pockets; such as vials of grease, a long climbing rope, and odds and ends.
Danju’s most precious possession however, is the charm on the rough leather band that hangs loosely around his neck. It is a flat, ovular silver charm with a golden star in the center, the same pattern embedded in the breastplate of the High Rhulian. It reminds him of his mother and father which pushes him onward to keep looking for a way home.
Personality:Danju is really a little one at heart. He likes to play around a lot and almost always has this cheesy big grin on his face. He likes dancing, playing with the little ones and just being one big pain. He really likes to “barrow” things from other creatures, but it’s all for good fun, and he gives it back most of the time (unless it’s food ).
Danju’s head always seems like it’s in the clouds, not paying attention at all. He’s just out there. He can become serious and is a fairly good fighter when the situation demands it or when he’s very upset, but normally he’s a goofy clown. Danju, however, is deathly afraid of storms. He will start shaking and cowering; crying out like a lost little one into the lighting and the rain.
Strengths: Danju like all normal otters is a very good swimmer. But unlike his species, he is an expert climber. Give him a rock, an almost smooth wall, a tree; whatever you’ve got, he can climb it in the wink of an eye. He is especially good at trees. In fact, he is a fairly good treewiffler, even though he isn’t a squirrel. Give him a slow start and he will be swimming off into the foliage.
Danju is also very nimble, even though he has these monstrous paws. He is quick and speedy, but built for power. He loves anything he can get his hands on. Knifes, woodwork, metalwork, puzzles, give him something for his paws to play with he is as happy as a little one.
Danju’s nimble paws give him an advantage to his other favorite things, thievery and the art of escaping. He could steal your whiskers and escape from the cage you locked him in all before you knew what was going on. Plus, after you realized he was missing, you would never be able to find him because his small size gives him the ability to hide very, VERY well.
Weaknesses: Danju, although a fun character, is not without his faults. Danju is,….how do I put this lightly……..short. And I mean short. He was born a runt and always has been a few good inches shorter that the average size of a river otter. This “height deprivation” shortens Danju’s reach quite a bit (one reason why he has to climb everywhere) and it allows him to be overpowered easily if the beasts in question can catch him, for Danju is a decent sprinter, but only in short spurts. He is no good if he has to be a long distance runner.
If such a thing existed in Redwall, Danju would be most defiantly be diagnosed with ADHD, ADOS, dyslexia, and the like. The ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder) give him great reflexes, but he can’t stay focused unless he can use his paws. When he is talking for long periods of time, he may break off onto a whole other train of thought, but end up back where he started. ADOS was a thing I have learned unscientifically means Attention Deficit Ooooo Shiny. I think it’s rather self-explanatory. Danju also has dyslexia. He can’t sit still long enough to read, but when he does; his words are all mixed up. He struggles at reading and goes very slow. And don’t even ask about his spelling! To add to all that his handwriting is nothing to gloat over either.
Danju also has problems with his mouth. It’s not like he can’t talk, he just talks too much, and conveniently knows just when to say the wrong things and get him into even deeper trouble.
History: Danju Tobias Wildlough was born on the luscious Green Isle to Kenyon Wildlough (his father) and Mona Wildlough the High Rhulian (his mother). He doesn’t remember a whole lot of Green Isle. He remembers flashes of green forests, crystal blue waters, giant waterfalls, his father’s strong paws, and his mother’s gentle touch.
But as he recalls those things, the memories soon become faded and mixed with brief memories of a grand ship, a terrible storm, swords clashing, creatures telling in both pain and anger, blood…so much blood…..[Truth to be told, Danju’s family was sailing to visit relatives on another Island, but was attacked by a vermin raiding ship and he was taken prisoner, Whether his parents are alive or dead, he does not know. But he believes that if he can get back to Green Isle, they will be alive and waiting for him, but he doesn’t know how he got here and doesn’t know how to get back… The only thing to remind him of his parents, meanwhile, is his charm of his mother’s symbol. (In appearance)]
The next moment that Danju’ remembers is the long years he spent as a young one being a slave to a vicious wildcat up North. Every day, in bulky chains around all of his paws, Danju was forced to clean anything and everything; the floors, the walls, the stolen goods, or whatever the wildcat wanted him to do. He was constantly beaten, malnourished, and all around mistreated. If that was not enough, when the wildcat was done with him, he was thrown into the dungeons, were no light could survive.
During this time, Danju discovered his skills at thievery and escaping. He would crawl out of the dungeons at night and snitch food to last another day. One day, when he was about 10 seasons old, he was caught stealing a candle for maybe the littlest amount of light in the cool damp dungeons. The wildcat beat him mercilessly. He went even as far as to racking Danju’s neck with his long claws. Danju was then tossed into the dungeon, to be left for dead.
Once Danju had enough strength to move, he escaped through a hole he had been making in the stone work for years with a little kitchen knife he had stolen a long time ago. He, however, was very unprepared to try and face the harsh Northern winter in his condition. He soon collapsed in the snow, wanting it all to just fade away.
When he awoke, he found himself in the presence of a solitary squirrel family. They kept Danju in their drey until he was fully healed. He didn’t talk a lot while his neck was healing because it hurt too much, but after that, he became like a member of the family, playing with the little one, helping around the home, and learn how to perfect his climbing and treewiffling skills.
After about 2 seasons, Danju had fully recovered and left his squirrel family, but not before they could laden him with gifts. They supplied him with new clothes, weapons, and supplies for whatever he may need. Danju especially cherished the white, homemade scarf the squirrel mother made for him to hide the scars on his neck. Danju now travel the areas of Mossflower and beyond for adventure and to one day find a way back home to Green Isle to hopefully find his parents….

I hoped that Danju's parents could still be alive, and maybe he could get to see them eventually, but what ever is best, I shall submit to. Thank you. Happy Posting!
